Purpose¶
The Executive Summary provides a high-level overview of Nissan North America’s (NNA) enterprise data governance initiative.
It highlights the strategic rationale, objectives, and expected benefits, enabling executives and stakeholders to understand the value, scope, and organizational impact of the program without diving into operational details.
Strategic Rationale¶
Data is a critical enterprise asset that drives decision-making, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and innovation.
The NNA Data Governance program ensures that data maintains its integrity, is protected from unauthorized access, and remains accessible and usable, enabling secure, consistent, and effective use across all business domains
Key strategic drivers include:

The primary objectives of the NNA Data Governance program are:

- Domains Covered: Customer, Vehicle, Dealer, Product, Finance, Supply Chain, and additional critical business areas.
- Data Assets: Master data, reference data, transactional data, metadata, and data products.
- Geography: Initially the United States, with phased expansion to the Americas.
- Processes Included: Data lifecycle management, quality assurance, security & privacy, regulatory compliance, and data stewardship.

- Executive Steering Committee – sets strategy and approves policies.
- Data Governance Council – oversees operational governance activities.
- Domain Data Stewardship Committees – manage day-to-day data quality, standards, and lifecycle within domains.
This layered structure ensures strategic alignment, operational accountability, and domain-level execution.
